23 Nov A note from Ryan Villopoto and Buy-A-Bale winner Julie
A note from RV…
To the winners of the Buy-A-Bale competition, Julie and her son Kurt, congratulations! Generosity is rarely rewarded these days and I know that with this we were together able to make a difference to the amazing farmers in Australia.
Thank you to each and every one of you who donated your hard-earned money to this extremely important cause! Together we have raised $9,179 for the foundation, which is nearly one Semi-Truck full of hay transported to these drought-stricken farmers.
I’m sorry I was unable to attend the Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney and ride in front of you all. With the recent tragedy I’ve been going through, I had to remain home with my family.
The team at the AUS-X Open have told me about these two winners, and I am glad that my YZ450F can help make a difference to such a deserving family.
Having experienced a recent loss of their own, Julie and Kurt decided to attend the AUS-X Open in memory of their loving Husband and Father Steve, who lost his battle with cancer a few months ago.
I, and the whole Supercross community are right behind you both. I couldn’t think of more worthy winners. I hope that the sport and my bike are able to fill your lives with some joy in this extremely tough time for you.
To all my fans in New Zealand I also need to say a massive sorry I won’t be heading down this year. Being around my family in this tough time is ultimately what I need right now.
To all the fans in Australia and New Zealand, I promise I’ll make it up to you and good luck to everyone riding this weekend at the Monster Energy S-X Open Auckland – no doubt it’s going to be some epic racing this Saturday at Mt Smart Stadium.
A message from our Buy-A-Bale donation winner, Julie…
Thank you so much for this absolutely amazing news!!! It was fantastic to hear from Greg Rust after the AUS-X Open that we had won RV’s bike through the Buy-A-Bale campaign!
I can’t begin to tell you how much this means to my son Kurt and I. You see, my husband Steve was struck by cancer early this year, sadly passing away just four months ago at just 55. Kurt and I kept to our plans to attend AUS-X, because Steve would have wanted us to still go. So it means so much more to us than just a competition win.
Again, thank you so much, and thank you also for such a great event – we had a blast 🙂
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and inviting us to S-X Open Auckland. As you can imagine, we fully understand what Ryan is going through right now and along with all the riders and fans we want to show our love and support all the way from here in Auckland.
